Nice fishing there guys. I know this has probably been asked before but, how did you keep the sharks from having the strong urea smell? The last time I went bay fishing, I had to throw mine back because I didn't know what to do.

We cut the tail ( remember to not break the tail all the way off )then toss the shark oveboard to bleed out. After a good 20 to 30 mins we then gut him then toss em back into the water for a nother 10 mins. And then transfer it to the box.

Actually we didn't use any Midshipmen believe it or not. We did dig a couple out of the shark's stomachs though. We still do have a bunch of midshipmen though lol.

True dat we brought a stash of midshipmen but eggs were the ticket. There was also big whole crabs in the stomachs as well.

How far away from Berkeley were you guys fishing? When you said you were fishing the bridge, were you referring to the bay bridge? Were you fishing right underneath it? Was it pretty calm out there? Been thinking about taking my boat out there but wanted to go with someone who knows the area.

eggs?! who would have thought. Hard-boiled or poached?? ;) ;D

There was lots of little crabs in ours as well. That and a bunch of small what looked to be smelt.

Id say 15-20 minutes away...going south. We were fishing right out of Oakland/Alameda with the bridge in sight. It's usually pretty calm till the winds pick up in the afternoons. If your boat is big enough there's no worry though.

Mike, so from what you are saying, I would say that you were fishing pretty close to the ferry that takes people out to san fran?

bretmoua

The fish in the sink is just one of the many fish that were washed up on shore after hurrican katrina. I have been posting quite a few up already. I'll be posting another one pretty soon.

I have seen the ferry you speak of and it's in that area. More on the south side of the island and the two briges that connect it to SF

tattoofish,
I still can't picture whereabouts you are talking about, but since you went back south that far, wouldn't it be a lot closer to launch out of alameda marina?

I guess but I prefer berkly for if we decide to get live bait it's all right there for the pickins. Personally I don't mind the run up there

nice job guys,

Maybe after deer season we can get together and do a little striper/sturgeon fishing. You guys really like the taste of them sharks, can't get past the smell.
