Re: Things have changed since I last fished

Cannot take fish over 68" out of the water and if you are using more than a half ounce of weight (which you will) it needs to be 18" away from your hook.

    Re: Tomales Bay

Big fish in the bay will probably be sharks/rays/butts with some striper.

Most of the shallow areas in the bay are packed with eel grass and will make that 3-8' of water look wild on the FF.

I have never seen anyone do it and have never caught a rock fish in the bay.

    Re: help choosing a fishfinder...

What kind of boat do you have? How it is configured can change what I would suggest.

No matter what I would say but the largest screen you can afford, no such thing as too big.

    Raymarine...
  5. Re: Sturgeon-Vessel Interactions Resulting in Mortality in the SF Bay

About six years ago while on Montezuma slough in my old tiller tin can that had a 25 HP motor I was on my way back to the launch when I hit something with my motor that hit hard enough to knock the...

    Re: Small stripper

Id say swap bait types. When I first fished stripers I mainly used anchovies and didn't catch a keeper for months. Swapped to sardines and shad and started catching larger fish. Upsizing for me...

    Re: Is 90 hp enough?

With that hull and motor I don't ever see that boat getting to 40. Gear and people you will be cruising in the high 25-27mph in good conditions and maybe low 30s topped out.

    Re: Is 90 hp enough?

I bought my 18' weldcraft with a 90hp honda and after 3 years I swapped it with a 115 yami. Such a good decision. The 90 will get the job done and since the boat is used I wouldn't let this hold you...

Re: Front Bow Cover for Towing

Why not put mudflaps on the truck? I would think that would be much cheaper and you wouldn't need to remove them when launching. Just a thought.

    Re: Canned Sardines and Anchovies

Dont know how you would keep the cooked fish on the hook but if you know how, give it a go. I personally wouldn't waste the time.

    Re: Possession?

The best way I have heard this explained is say you go camping for the weekend at a lake/river. You can catch one fish Saturday and another on Sunday and be within the regulations. You however will...

    Re: Tomales halibut 6/27

Good catch. I hate launch ramps, it was funny as a shore fisherman but that all changed when I got a boat. Tomales ramp is always super slippery with the eel grass and I would never try that myself.
