    Re: SF Gate Salmon Reports

We went out Sunday 6/16. Lots of bait in the channel, had one knock down that missed the hook. Headed NW a little to 115 fow found whales, birds, even more bait. Hooked and released a small jack. Ran...

    Re: SF salmon 6/1 report

Nice fish! It's good to see someone getting fish over the rails! Sometimes I think there's a conspiracy with the bite and weather only being good M-F, 9-5 not including holidays...

    SF salmon 6/1 report

With finally some decent weather we headed out the Gate for salmon. Lines in the water at the channel makers, nothing, very little if any bait. Headed over to Stinson, better marks on the sonar...

    Re: SF salmon opener

Oh what a day! Headed straight out the Gate, setup trolling in 115FOW, POW! My personal best out here, a 21-22lb fish (scale didn't steady in the swells) comes over the rails. Had another 26" fish...

    SF salmon opener

For all those going out the Gate tomorrow, 4/13, good luck and stay safe. Looks like the wind will calm down for a few hours. We'll be trolling around looking for chrome!

    Re: Smith report 1/24- 1/27

When I was there, 30-40% of people were fly fishing, most of those were doing so near and up stream of Gasquet. That portion and lower than Hiouchi, I'm my humble opinion gives plenty of room to fly...

    Re: Smith report 1/24- 1/27

Not on the Smith, that's a bit too much river for me just yet! The American and Moke will keep me out of the trees and my rod unbroken. I have a 5wt, that I will also chase Sierra trout with.

Small world! Thanks. Haha I know, I get looks with a chest mounted camera, I could only imagine the expressions if I ask "are you a sniffer?"

    Smith report 1/24- 1/27

Weather, clarity, flows, all were good! The fishing not so much, a few hours on Thurs, full days on Fri/Sat, and a hail Mary 2 hour Sunday morning gave me 1 trout, 1 bump, and a handful of snags. ...

    Re: Mokelumne River report 1-19-19

I just spent 4 days on the Smith. Got 1 wild rainbow that had yet to see salt. 4 days and only 1 of the many people I spoke with had luck and that was 1 of a dozen drift boats. Video coming soon.

I'm just glad after two consecutive years of being rained out on my trips. There's going to be great weather, so I can pound the river from sun up to sun down for a few days. Just being there is...

    Re: Mokelumne River report 1-19-19

Thanks all, the Moke is definitely a nice little river, given that it's closer than the American, I will be a frequent visitor. Maybe one day I'll catch a fish on a fly too!!!

    Mokelumne River report 1-19-19

I decided to 1) give fly fishing a try, 2) fish the Mokelumne for the first time. Fished the day use area by the hatchery for about 7 hours, saw some fish at the surface but no takers for me on an...

    American report 1/4/19

After a successful opener, I headed back to Sailor Bar Park on 1/4 bar drifting roe and a little float fishing, for only 1 tap on roe. There are fish moving and holding water, in my opinion they...

    Re: American River opener report

    Thanks all!
A few were throwing hardware, I did not see them hookup or catch anything. All activity were either on fly or drifting bait. Those fly fishing, were hooking up several times.
