    Re: Tahoe Bass

As I understand it, the bass in the Truckee (which indeed have been there for years) spread from the Prosser Creek Reservoir population. Everything I have read indicates that the Prosser Creek...
  2. Re: Washing State to close all fishing at midnightg tonight.

While such a thing may exist, I have never done any sort of fishing wherein there was even the remotest chance of being infected with a virus from another person... I admit to having some large...

Re: What happened to the Sierra's

Nothing good ever comes from discussing politics in a venue like this. If that's what you want to do, there are forums that cater more to it...

Why bring down a fishing forum?

    Re: Opening Day Lake Pardee

Exactly. I have a pretty clear idea what draws me to fishing and why I find it rewarding. The guys in that picture must get some different satisfaction out of it.

    Re: Opening Day Lake Pardee

I would rather stay home and watch "Andy Griffith" re-runs than fish in that mob....
  6. Re: Is there any way to fish a part of Crystal Springs or Upper San Andreas Reservoir

If you search the net there are lots of stories of people sneaking in there and catching monstrous trout. Being the internet, most of them are probably lies or hugely embellished.

    If you want to...
  7. Re: Suggestions for "non-backlash" baitcaster for bass

I don't think there are any. I have tried the most advanced anti-backlash reels on the market, and I can still manage to get backlashes now and then.

I suppose if you dialed in the "protection...

    Re: Folsom big un 12\6

I catch a lot of sqawfish, and their fight always reminds me of brown trout. Better fight than a largemouth, but no where near as good as a rainbow.

    Sticky: Re: trout pictures

If you are fishing where I think you are....I have caught some large trout there with missing pectoral fins also. What causes that?

Re: Courtright Reservoir still popping for bows

I personally don't think coloration has much bearing, as I have seen some very colorful stockers, but the other things you mention sure sound like wild fish. At the very least, holdover stockers...

Never fished Courtright, probably never will (far from me, sadly) but it sure looks like a beautiful lake. Thanks for the report

    Re: Folsom catfish spots

Honestly...I don't think you can go wrong. Throw some kind of stinky bait in Folsom and you will catch catfish. I have caught them from Rattlesnake Bar, Granite Bay, and every other place I have...

Re: South Fork American River near Coloma

Whenever people talk about the south fork, I am reminded of the old timers talking about the days when there were steelhead running up by Coloma. How awesome would that have been? I guess we got a...

    Re: Sacramento Area 9/25/2019

Everything you say is true, and I never fished there for exactly those reasons. I don't care personally that they closed it.

Having said that though, I don't understand why DFW didn't just...

Re: Are huge trout good to eat?

With rainbows, bigger tastes better IMHO. When they get large the meat is to me almost indistinguishable from fresh salmon. I am talking about large wild trout though, not pen raised hatchery fish....

Re: Is there bass in rollins

I used to catch smallmouth in Rollins a few years back. My experience was the same: small/skinny.
  18. Re: Saw Cal's latest sarcastic piece on handlng trout.

Obviously the video was an attempt at humor, nothing more than that. It would be disingenuous to claim it had any bearing on how Mr. Kellogg treats fish that he intends to release. Maybe even...

    Re: Summer time finesse fishing

I used to have sole fishing access to a private pond of about two acres. It was fascinating watching the bass quickly learn from their experience. When I first fished it, they would aggressively...

    Re: Whats YOUR fishing store?

Fisherman's Warehouse, hands down. I also like Sportsman's Warehouse, but not nearly as much.

I've fished Junction a few times in my kayak...mainly because it is a pretty spot and is out of the mainstream traffic. I had a good time, but never caught anything worth mentioning.

    Re: Tahoe Bass

I hear you. Thank you for clarifying.

I don't have any sort of jaundiced eye toward the people working on eradicating the bass....but I kind of do, on a gut level, toward the viability of the...
