Re: Tuber considering making switch to Kayak or Toon....help me decide!

Another kayak to consider is a Hobie pedal kayak. It is nice to be able to troll hands free, you can cover lots of water almost effortlessly. First time out in a Hobie Outback at Silver Lake I covered over 10 miles easily. They are not cheap but resale is excellent. Whichever kayak you end up with it is a good idea to demo as many as you can to see what you like and to find out what is a good fit for you.

    They're just average toys. ;-)

I have a power boat, kayak, pontoon, inflatable raft, and float tube. I use them all, depending on the water I'm going to fish and the current conditions (and the current itself).

Sometimes bank fishing is the best approach.

+1 on the light paddle advice. Strong AND light is the ticket. If you splurge on the paddle you will not regret it.

My best paddle is an Adventure Technology Oracle carbon fiber. Very lightweight. I have two cheaper Aquabound paddles I use for loaners. I have 1 Werner Camano. I have an older paddle not produced anymore from Big Spoons. It was my favorite till I got the AT Oracle. I recommend getting the lightest paddle you can afford. You will thank me later after a long day on the water.
