    Redwood City sharaying

    Xavier fighting the batray

Xavier and Maya next to the ray

Sat. 10/01/05 went sharaying in Redwood City.

My ten year old son, Xavier, caught his first batray ever! He had his 7' med. action bass rod with a Shimano 4000 reel spooled with ten lb line. The ray made several impressive runs, one of which I thought was gonna spool his little reel. The fight lasted about ten minutes and he was still talkin about it the next day! I estimated the ray at about ten pounds. I ended up catching two leapords to 36", an undersized leapord, a smoothound 34", and a batray just a little smaller than Xavier's. All in all it was a fun, active day on the shore. My little girl, Maya, had a blast running around and watching us catch fish. A few more years and she will have a line in the water ;).

Much thanks to Grammar Police for turning me on to this spot.
