Once separate, rub the male ferrule with paraffin or candle wax and youll never again have this problem.

Extreme cold work very good to separate the stuck rod. This method using compressed air worked for me.

Another thought. Take it fishing. All that flexing may break it loose.

    Nope.
    I tried Corrosion X but couldn't separate.

    Thanks

I have had to use a similar method for other cold weld situations typically I use a bench vice with soft jaws and twisting motion, good feeling when it finally breaks free.

Did we ever unstick the OP's rod?

Careful with the so called corrosion remedies. They could screw up the rod finish.
I would hang it up vertical in a place where the temperature changes. Garage or breezeway ETC. Then drip some penetrant into the ferrule that will not damage the rod. Add 4 or 5 pound weight to the lower piece . Then walk away. The changing temp will cause movement that will work the parts apart. How long? but it will work eventually.

Try this: Kano Aerokroil Penetrating Oil, 10 oz. aerosol (AEROKROIL). It is by far the best penetrating oil out there. Its not cheap, but as with anything else, you get what you pay for.

To keep them from sticking, back when we were kids, we rubbed male end next to your nose to get some oil on it.
Forgot but left a black streek next to your nose and nobody would tell you about it until you looked in a mirror
