I heard that 6.5X300 is a barrel killer. And guys are have trouble finding that sweet spot between velocity and barrel twist. You seeing any of that?

Funny you should mention T-Rex, I have a Marlin 1895SBL in 45-70 and if you go to the Marlin website
( https://www.marlinfirearms.com/lever.../model-1895sbl ) and look at it, they show icons for game that it is capable of taking. The last one shown is a T-Rex. LOL.. First time out at the range was pleasantly surprising because it was none of what people were saying regarding recoil. Make no mistake, you know you're shooting a short barreled big bore but it doesn't hurt and is actually a lot of fun. It's my 4 Wheeler carry unless I'm varmint hunting, then I carry my AR 5.56 that I built for varmint hunting.

I was reloading in 6.5 G but gave the rifle to my neighbor and bought a Weatherby 6.5-300. I can push 140g bullets out of that which makes it a much better and more versatile 6.5 for hunting. I also have a Bergarra B-14 HMR in 6.5 Creedmoor. It's O.K. but I guess the 6.5-300 spoiled me because I'm not overly impressed with it. I have a .308 Weatherby Mark V Threat Response Rifle that blows the Bergarra 6.5 C out of the water. Perhaps I'm feeling a little let down due to all the hype about the Creedmoor.

    Big Game Hunting in Nevada

This ought to get me a Muley.. Probably gut it and skin it all in one shot... My new toy, a Barrett M82A1 50 BMG. No, it's not really for hunting just a lot of fun to shoot and blow up crap out in the desert.
