    I concur 100%. If you are a hunter who hunts with dogs (pheasant, waterfowl, etc.)you really need a specific breed with known ancestory. If you are looking for a dog as a pet and companion and not a hunter then I would always try to find a rescue. My next dog after my hunting lab Sprig passes on will definitely be a rescue.

    My wife and I have used petfinder.com.
    The search parameter(s) can be dialed in to your needs and location.
    Breeds are one of the parameters.
    We have adopted 3 of our dogs from Yolo county SPCA.

    Ask lots of questions particularly about their health and behavior while they were in a foster home. 2 of the 3 had some health issues.
    They may not always be known, but I did find out after the adoption on 1 of them that there was a problem that was chronic that was not revealed because I did not ask...
    I would not ever give him up because of that, he loves us unconditionally, and we return the love twofold...

    Looking for a pup

    The wife and I have decided its time to look for a new family member, Its been 9 years since we lost our little Rudy dog... so Im asking if anyone knows of any dachshund puppies that need a new home.
