    Re: SF salmon opener

Just curious. When you came back with salmon and started fishing for butts do you have to use barbless hooks? I’ve been on party boats rockfishing during salmon season and a few times a salmon is hooked (during salmon season) and they say they have to release it or the entire boat has to go barbless because a salmon is on board. Is that true?

Oh what a day! Headed straight out the Gate, setup trolling in 115FOW, POW! My personal best out here, a 21-22lb fish (scale didn't steady in the swells) comes over the rails. Had another 26" fish shortly after. Ran over to Dux, 1 take down there without a hook up. All fish hit anchovies with flashers in the shallower part of the column 18-25 feet down. Afterwards ran inside the bay and took home back to back halibut on our last drift for the day. If you would like to check out the excitement, there's a video below.

    Tight lines!

Wind looks like a small window on Saturday morning but seas looks a little bumpy.
    Good luck.

    SF salmon opener

For all those going out the Gate tomorrow, 4/13, good luck and stay safe. Looks like the wind will calm down for a few hours. We'll be trolling around looking for chrome!
