    Cool Re: Hello Hole?????

1988 Toyota truck, 4 cyl.22re and 35" tires aired down to about 10psi, chains on all 4 wheels and lockers on both axles.
We did it for many years.
The road is packed by the snowcat that uses it to go to other lake and record the levels. French meadows.
About 5 trucks with 14' aluminum boats and motors and trailers.
Usual years it is close to 8' deep but hard and below freezing it is doable.
1980 toyota did it stock with chains, but had plenty of others to help out.
A plus is knowing the dam keeper and a good friend, We used the private campground in their compound.
Snow is real deep at the summit where the Forest Station is, then it is all downhill and the snow disappears and good sun on the south facing slopes.

    Re: Hello Hole?????

So I really like to wander a lot when I go fishing. I try to pick spots way out there, Hell Hole being one of them. A few months ago I tried to go, but didn't chance it. So many felled trees all over the road (I actually moved two), but it's pretty dangerous. The road isn't really great right now and there's no cell service if you get lost or break down. My aunt who lives up that way told me about a few trucks getting stuck up there over a weekend as well.

I'd say wait it out a bit until the road gets better and the snow thaws a bit. Better safe than sorry.

Hell Hole is only at about 4600 feet, but I believe the road in crests quite a bit higher than that. I know that they generally do not plow it, and in normal years it usually doesn't open until around May. This year, with all the storms, I wager it is pretty much impassable.

Couldn’t get the trout to cooperate. Trolled from .5-2.5 mph. Water temperature was 36 degrees. There was a little surface ice early in the day.

Picked up 3 small Mack’s hugging the bottom. Pretty slow overall. Weather was perfect though.

The high water ramp should be in service by this weekend.

I live in Georgetown. Spoke with a coworker who went up that way this past weekend and apparently the road washed out again just recently.
