Re: Fishing forums a thing of the past??

Facebook is crushing the iFish fishing forum up in Oregon also. It is what it is and people use what they like.
    Here they come!

Not completely gone, but the other shoe may drop at anytime though .

Here's my take...lots of fishermen aren't/weren't sharing their trips on the (given) forum but they do/did email or pm their buddies.

Then facebook came about and they now they share their outings with their buddies to keep their "honey holes" private.

Perfect example is when someone posted a week or two ago that the Kokes bite at Melones were red hot. Then that Saturday everyone and their brothers were out trolling.

Now to keep the traffic at a minimum, the ones on facebooks share these info with each other.

As for me, I normally share my ocean trips on an open forum. Ocean fish moves around and the ocean is big enough that it can accept the U.S. Navy and still have room to spare.

However, I do occasionally get an email or pm with reports. I don't share those because I am/was asked not to.

I more than likely not sign up for facebook but that's just me.

Tight lines guys and gals .

everyone blows their fishing stuff up on social media. I don't like it because it brings crowds and lots of pressure on good bites. A couple weeks ago the local guys started nailing kokanee at Melones, a few guys shared every trip on ten different pages and now it's getting hit pretty damn hard.

I think from now on I'll be very selective on who I share with. I rarely post my reports here, seems when I do I get called a pothead and a liberal, lol.

I hope this forum (as well as a couple of other forums) keep going for years to come. I know most of us could participate a little more. Maybe a few more people from FinAddicts will post here occasionally.
They are just switching to Facebook, of which I am not a member and probably never will be. FinAddicts was mostly funded and ran within the group from what I know. Fish Sniffer will hang on, but many forms of operation do not today like BBS's or My space, things change and turn to other means of communication. You can turn your vehicle to the left or right while operation is underway, seems to me Facebook is stuck on left...….Jetspray

Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time

Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way

    Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
When I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire
    Far away, across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spell
