    Re: Boca

    Thanks for the replies. Just curious regarding the ease of access to the west side of the lake.

    At least they are actually working on the dam............... Cannot say the same about Martis?

    Re: Boca

    "The reservoir will operate at around half its capacity, about 28 feet lower than maximum water levels, during the summer and fall of 2019 to assist construction. " quote;

    This is needed for the dirt on the East side at the inlet to be dry enough for the heavy equipment to remove it,
    which will add "Volume" to the water volume of the lake.
    This was discussed at the meeting held near Robb Drive a year or two ago, for those interested on what was going on.

    The road across the Dam will NOT be open to traffic,,,,,,,,,,, UNTIL the new Dam is in place, some time in 1920,
    if we are LUCKY.

    Got little tin boat ??

    Re: Boca

    The road across the dam is closed. There is major construction in progress on the dam right now and as of last week they are already using heavy equipment to move dirt in the upper part of the lake bottom.

    Re: Boca

    it's been a long time but since 9-11 in 2001 they have kept it closed and many others

    TRUCKEE, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation will modify Boca Dam beginning in May 2019 to better resist the impacts of potential earthquakes. The project will extend to October 2020 and temporarily stop during the 2019/2020 winter. Boca Dam is located six miles northeast of Truckee.
    During the project, Stampede Meadows Road will remain open with traffic controls. The road over Boca Dam will be closed during the project, but there is an alternative route to Boca Campground and other recreational facilities on the west side of the reservoir via Prosser Dam Road to Boca Road. Use caution when traveling in this area during construction.
    “Safety is a top priority for Reclamation,” said Terri Edwards, Lahontan Basin Area Office Manager. “Through our Safety of Dams program, we are correcting seismic risks at Boca Dam. The project will construct an earthen buttress on the downstream face to stabilize the dam and also modify the spillway crest structure.”
    The reservoir will operate at around half its capacity, about 28 feet lower than maximum water levels, during the summer and fall of 2019 to assist construction.
