Re: Hooking up FF to battery?

I bet that was startling Seon! I personally don’t switch any switched appliance. However I do master switch each battery bank. This helps for charging on/off the water and silencing those vocal intruders at night. 😊

Re: Hooking up FF to battery?

I have my two FF and two VHF radios connected to a fuse block via each on separate toggle switches. I turn them off as soon as I come back to the ramps.

Early in my fishing days, I've forgotten to turn the VHF off then at home a voice have startled me before realizing it was from the VHF...thus the toggle switches.

And yes, I also have a Blue Sea main battery switch.

The problem with this method is you are using the main wiring harness provided by the manufacturer. Whatever electrical BUZZ associated with that harness will also transfer from the factory fuse panel to the MFD's. ie: no clean power.

Re: Hooking up FF to battery?

I do have a fuse block under the steering console.Right now its hooked up to
the acc switch .The ff has shut off a few times on it's own,I'm thinking that
the way it's hooked up is why.I called my buddy in Sacto and he said his was
hooked up to the battery with an in line fuse. Can i or should i hook it up to the
    main boat battery.
I do carry a spare battery in the boat.I could hook it to that.I just don't want to
charge the battery every 6-10 times out.
As far as my boat,It's a 02 tracker super guide 16ft single side console..
    and a merc 60 efi 4 stroke.
    Thanks
    Bob

I bought a small lawn mower battery and hooked it up with a fuse and alligator clips, I due have to make sure it is charged before I leave.

Run black and red #10 marine wire from the battery to a Blue Sea Systems fuse block at the console. Connect your ff to the fuse block. This will give you ‘poor mans’ clean power for the electronics. Not the best way but can work.
