Fished Oroville on 7/5 for 8- 13-17" landlocks to the boat . One 10" released at end of day. 50' with pearl white and similar hoochies and lures with herring scent. Same color dodgers.

    Re: Oroville 7-02

Went back to Oroville today with a friend. He put five in the box, and I didn't even hook up. So I was unable to give fishwrong's hook approach a test. Fished the same area as last week. Fish were 50-65 ft deep. His shorter hoochie, white with purple back was the ticket today. The same hoochies I used last week were no go this week. After his fourth fish, he took off one of his magic hoochies and donated it to the needy, me; still didn't hook up. Just wasn't my day. Didn't see a lot of nets flying among other boats. Still a great day on the lake!

Thanks. I've expanded my fishing vocabulary. Might as well at least sound like I know what I'm doing. Haha.

what about using the surgical tubing with a leader inside, soft stretch and then sets the hook.
    many years ago ?

I think a Drive By is about the same as a HNS.

Hit No Stick. A fish that hits hard but doesn't really get hooked. For me it happens a lot. I have had my rods doubled over but by the time I pick up the rod the fish is gone. HNS or Drive By? A long distance release implies you actually got to fight the fish a little bit.

Thanks for the info. Gotta agree with Fishwrong, in my book, that is a REALLY good day on the O. Been there twice for a total of 3 ldrs and 1 in the box. Could not find the fish either time. Thanks again, keep the good news coming.

It sounds like we are fishing using pretty much the same stuff. One difference: I use a single #2 Gamagatzu hook in my hootchies which reduces loss of fish a lot!

I ended up downloading and using the Tapatalk app to add a picture. Did it from my iPhone. Pretty easy. Hope that helps. Would love to see a picture of that fish. Monster for a landlocked.
