Re: New to the site and boat ownership! (Cadillac Boat)

Hi Commish. You may recognize my screen name from over on TinBoats.

FishSniffer is a fantastic forum for all things fishing in the West. I think it is less about the kind of boat modifications you are considering. But you never know. Someone on these forums might have a boat like yours. If you want, I can share the same pic here that you posted on TinBoats. Just let me know.

I've also started some basic modifications, so I will post more pics as I go. Thanks in advance for any info, tips or ideas of how to add some decking and maybe what HP motor I can put on it. It is 15'8" bow to transom and around 5' wide. For some reason I can't upload pictures, so I will add them later.

    Thanks!
You might need a minimum number of posts to include a photo on the site, but you can link to a pic hosted elsewhere.

Re: New to the site and boat ownership! (Cadillac Boat)

Theres information and pictures on the net of the Cadillac boats. They were small run abouts made of wood and some I believe were aluminum. I mean no offense but if you are new to boat ownership this would not be a boat for a new novice boat owner. If its a completely rebuilt and refurbished boat you might be ok with it. If not (and it sounds like its not rebuilt) then probably most of the wood is rotten and you are looking at a complete rebuild which is quite expensive, time consuming and labor intensive. Depending on the transom Id guess a 35 to 40hp would be the max outboard for that boat.
You say youve seen several boats like yours on this site. I think you have this site mixed up with another. Ive never seen a boat anything like yours on this site. If there has been some here they would be rare in deed.
This post is a little unusual and Im giving you the benefit of the doubt that you are not a spammer. Looking forward to your next post with pictures and more information.
