Thumbs up Re: July 22, 2019 Lake Tahoe Fishing Report !

Ed , we have had several early days of limits of fine mature mackinaw . The bite is very good for the lake trout from 2 to 8 pounds and a few over that .We have been working hard areas of 80 feet to 200 feet depending on the locations around the Lake . Winds in the afternoons has made things interesting to say the least . Cheers ! Geno

Saw you on your way home from cave rock (?) 8/14/2019 around 11am........
must have been a really good early bite to get off the water so soon.
The water looked great also, calm with little wave action.

I was coming back from the cabin and taking the long way home, for a change.
    Tight lines.

8/4/2019 Lake Tahoe Fishing Report Update . The Mackinaw Lake Trout fishing has improved a lot in the last week . This has to due with the snow melt runoff decreasing rabidly as the snow pack itself has melted down considerably . The lake level has stopped rising dramatically and now has started to lower very slowly . The Trout bite is getting better due to the simple fact that the nutrients that were driving the explosion of shrimp and various invertebrates have dwindled . The Bite will also improve as the summer moves along and the Mackinaw expand their spawning in numbers .This also means improved water clarity , simply put... more pure water and less suspended particulates means cleared water and less food for the stuffed Lake Trout to eat . Hence they are now foraging for food . Limits are coming now to those Tahoe experienced anglers who are out early . 9:00 am is the general morning bite cutoff time , plus or minus . Calm winds in the morning and westerly winds in the afternoon are still sop . 3 to 9 pound fish are the norm now ( to experienced anglers ) and it all depends on the reeler's / anglers skill and ability . Cheers ! Captain Gene St. Denis
