    Re: Downrigger: Cable or Braid

    Ford vs Chevy

Benefits of braid is it doesn’t hum and there’s less blowback when your fishing fast and deep. Drawbacks are it’s less abrasions resistant when you bang around in the rocks, and you have to be more careful man handling it as it can cut you.

Ive got braid on mine and like it, but not sure I’d throw out good cable to swap it out. Then again if it’s not going to bankrupt the family, the guy with the coolest toys at the end wins.

    Downrigger: Cable or Braid

I was thinking about swapping out the wire I have on my Scotty manual downrigger for braid. I was curious if anyone else is currently or have previously run braid on the downrigger and if you have any preference between the two?
