I pay $865 a year here in Nevada but for me it is all about protection for things that happen on the water. Do you drive a car in California without insurance, guess what they can sue your butt off for everything you have and your life long savings by hitting your vehicle in the right conditions. Good reason for life type insurance by many companies. California especially has those that want to take away what you have to finance their lives. You must protect what you have by what you want to protect......Jetspray

Insurance is cheap. Ive always kept full coverage on my boats.

All I know is with some of the idiots out there these days if some boater hits my boat they better have insurance if not they are going to be hurting big time.
My opinion is you own a watercraft of any kind you should have to have insurance on it just like a vehicle has to.

No..no, insure it for agreed value.

When you insure it under replacement cost, then insurance company deduct for depreciation.

The very least you should have liability coverage. If you injure or kill someone with your boat , you will get sued and without liability you could lose everything you have.
i had full coverage and think it is worth every penny. Boat insurance is really not expensive. Many of us have our boat insurance as part of our homeowners coverage.

The idea of insurance is to protect yourself, and make yourself whole again. I would insure your boat and trailer replacement cost, plus all of your gear(electronics, kicker motor, rods, reels, tackle) make sure u have adequate liability insurance to cover u against fuel spills or injuries. you also want to make sure u are covered in all waters u plan to fish, Some insurance won’t cover u or make you pay extra for ocean fishing or fishing foreign waters Mexico/Canada. I personally have an umbrella policy on top of my home/auto/boating insurance. Better to have extra coverage than not enough.
