    Re: Sierra Slam

Now that is an outing that went well...............

Love it when you can pick up the three out of four but getting that forth fish for the mini slam is SUPER.

That is my favorite easy "fishing hole" area for a lot of fun with a fly rod.
Not too many trees and the willows are doable, most of the time, to where fly loss is at a minimum.

I find traffic not too bad and better on week days.
After Labor Day is a great time for those that are retired or not working, for that Fall bite !!

Plus the mosquitoes are thinning out, which is a good thing for the evening bite.

    Outstanding!
This kind of close fishing is just another reason why living here is so great.

Very nice. It was a few years back when they drained Caples for repairs that in a single day I was able to get a brown and a mack at Caples. A brook at Red and a rainbow and LCT on the W. Carson. 88 Grand Slam.

    Sierra Slam

I was able to get out for a few hours in the middle of day yesterday to get some fly fishing in. I decided to fish the West Carson since it's close and I was pressed for time. I fished all by myself with no one in sight which I thought was very odd for a holiday weekend. The fishing was really good I caught 3 Browns, (2 were babies) 5 Rainbows, and 1 Cutt in an hour and a half. I had an hour to kill before I had to be home so I drove up stream and fished a tributarie to a tributarie of the West Carson for a Brook Trout. It's been a few years since I was able to get the variety of trout species in the same water shed.
