I too quit after 32yrs smoking Marlboro's and when that got expensive I switched over to GCP a generic brand. By 1997 I was over 2pks a day but then I finally quit in May of that year. Now COPD is part of my life but only a milder case compared to what others have. I suffer mostly in winter months right now with the air inversion with asthma on top too. Last winter I had a case of walking pneumonia. That's the second time in 10yrs I had that. I do look fwd to storms coming thru no matter how cold or how much snow as long as it purges the trapped valley inversion. Retirement allows me to hibernate during those storms. Snow removal is just an activity to keep me busy.

I stopped smoking 1990 I think it was, after about 40 years i'm glad I did. I was about 1 and a half pack a day.
i'm sure glad I did because I couldn't afford to now. I was paying 1.50 a carton for Marlboros. one of my Korean
workers road to work with and after couple of weeks I told my wife about the terrible smell he put off. She said
"what do you think I've been living with the last 5 years. I said, "I couldn't have smelled that bad". she said,
"yes you did. you was just so used to it you didn't know it." I don't miss it, but when I go to a store if someone
is outside smoking I always stop and chat with them for awhile just to smell it, I still like the smell of fresh
    smoke.

when i was working in taiwan, it didnt snow there much, only saw it in the mountains.
the site i was at was on top of a mountain and was leaving after a mid watch, about 8 am
and saw chinese driving down the mountain on a pretty winding road with a little snow man
on their hood right in front of the driver. there was always a lot of traffic there, but when it
snowed it would take me about an hour to go 3/4 of a mile.
    be safe
