    Re: Final season tally

Man, I was jucied to get out there this year and try it. I lost count of how many trips I went on (10 or more). I used Silvertrons, Cut Plugs and wrapped Kwikfish. Didn't get one Salmon this year. I'm pretty sure I am moving out of this "Great State" over summer, so this may have been my first and last Salmon run.

Really slow for me. One fish per trip average. Had a few multi-fish trips, but also several skunks. Worst season for me since the closure.

    Re: Final season tally

My best year ever since starting to fish in 2013. Final total was 18 fish in the boat. Only lost one at the boat (Bummer, that fish still had the purple sheen and silver tail of an ocean fish), and no more than about 5 LDR, always within a few seconds of the bite.

Started on anchor in Verona with spinners, then trolling Verona with spinners, then moved down to Garcia with spinners until the water temp got down to about 65F. Then switched over to kwikfish.
I was the really slow boat everyone passed like it was standing still.

I did virtually no jigging this year, which is odd because I usually end up doing better jigging than other methods. I just did not need to this year.

A lot of smaller fish (sub 10lb) early on, They got larger later, but not many over 15lb, my best was 22lb. They all cut really well through the whole season, better than past years.

Overall I'm really happy with this season.

Oh Yeah!...Salmon!...Everything else is just practice.

    Re: Final season tally

I talked to one of the fish and game guys that was working at the hatchery for camanche. He said due to the higher pulse flows the fish didnt stay anywhere for long. He said they would just push on through. He also said that they only collect from about a 1/3rd of the fish that come up. The rest are natural which I thought was interesting.

First time leaving the boat in a slip so I got out more than past years. Averaged 1-2 fish per trip. Finished the year with 13 fish with the last one being caught Dec 2nd that was still chrome. Never have fished this late in the year.

    Re: Final season tally

Had four single fish trips and one blank trip. Each time I felt lucky since very few or only my boat had caught something. Last few years were better than this one. Instead of a big school coming in, it was more like a trickle: fish were in the system but never in any great numbers.

Hope next year is better but I won't have any real expectations until I read/see the hatchery numbers.

    Re: Final season tally

I think this season was worse than last year. We put more fish in the boat last year even with the one fish limit.
    Here they come!
