horseshoe bend is always nice, it is the other side of the island that gets nasty, horseshoe bend is where people run to take cover.
I am not sure exactly how to check the wind conditions out there, I always punch in weather on the computer and then it will ask me for a zip code and I put in Rio Vista zip code and it will give me a couple of areas to look at which will give me a good idea how it is, I have a buddy that checks the weather out there all the time, I will ask him what site he goes to. I forgot Rio Vistas zip code otherwise I would have left it for you.

heard that it was blowin like 30-40mph today...

That's is exactly what I heard also and by some of the reports it must have been cause alot of these guys won't stop fishing for Salmon unless they are sideways in the water when trolling w/out a fish........can't wait to be sideways after the hook-up

The Ch. on your VHF gives a NICE report about weather out there in that area.......The weather bands....

There used to be a website for windsurfers that had a live weather station and live webcam just downstream of the Rio Vista bridge. You could get up to the minute wind conditions. You might google windsurfing and Rio Vista.
