For your info,The anchovies I got in Berkeley last weekend were as small as Ive seen there. So if your plannin a live bait trip make sure you have some small hooks till the chovies get bigger.a half scoop cost 30 frogskins now.I dont remember if it was 25 last year or 30 but its 30 now.

Would one scoop be enough for a day of fishing for 2 people?

A half scoop is plenty for 3-4 guys and cost 30 bucks.

Did those little anchovies catch any fish for you? I'll be out there next week.

anyone ever fish "California Dawn" out of berkley?
gonna give him a try soon, and was just curious what experiences ppl have had with them.
another question ,can you catch 7 gills out of berkley?

Would a 5 gallon bucket with an airrator be enough to keep the half scoop of bait alive? Also do they sell smaller then half a scoop?

5 gallon bucket and a 1/2 scoop, you will need to refresh your water every 10-15 minutes so that your fish will not die! When the water in the bucket warms up your bait belly's up and die! I prefer a 15 gallon Ice chest to keep the water cooler and keeps the bait alive a little longer! :)

Thanks for the info.

Does anyone know if they will sell you a quarter scoop? I've been out a couple of time and ordered half sccop.. but i only use about 20% of it.. all goes to waste..

do they normally run out of bait?

He will let you have less than 1/2 a scoop, but it will still cost 30 bucks.

If he won't sell me a quarter scoop then i mind as well get my monies worth and chum!

Yeah half is the smallest amount you can buy.The bait wont last long without the tank being replenished constantly.

Save your leftovers and freeze them for salmon or whatever.

ask an other boat if they want to share a half scoop!! with the price threw the roof Im sure there will be takers!! bait wont last long enough to get to the end of the pier without a water flow!! bucket for shinners YES!! Chovies NO!!! good luck!! CJ [smiley=captjack.gif]

I wouldn't fish on the Cal Dawn...with that awesome galley, I don't think I'd be fishing, I'd be pigging out on those breakfast burritos and cheeseburgers...yum! ;D

I have fished on the Cal Dawn several times and it has always been a blast. The Smith Clan have been fishing these waters for sometime now and they do a good job of finding the fish. Plus the breakfast burritos are top notch!!
