I was all excited to see the results of the 3 day weekend, Not too many trout reports. Is it me or does it seem way way down this year. I am getting away before my big surgery and will post a somewhat epic adventure (I HOPE). I do understand lots of folk skip the mess and crowded conditions of a Holiday weekend . I am one of those. But I am 1 week away from really being layed up and Im gonna get out of the house. Have my son do all the work and just hang out..........................................Targe ting 88 http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y89/gonecountry2/hammsgif.gif (http://s3.photobucket.com/user/gonecountry2/media/hammsgif.gif.html)

Too many "Looney Tunes" are out on a holiday weekend to enjoy fishing, so we spent a quiet weekend at our cabin, "having fun" pulling weeds, priming and painting window frames. The company, cocktails, food and scenery were superb, and best of all, it was quiet and peaceful.

We fished Stanislaus river, C&R over 40 trouts over the weekend. Salmon eggs and old trusted Thomas B. The river looks good clear and cold.

Same thing, went away to Connecticut to do BBQ etc. But at one point I got away and hung out at a pier for a half hour watching some striper anglers, talking fishing and stuff.

Went fishing this morning and caught my limit within a half hour. There was a tadpole hatch going on, thousands of black tadpoles with heads the size of powerbait eggs and half inch tails. Mice tails matched the look of the tadpoles I guess. :)

FYI fellow trout fishermen; I arrived here at Almanor Saturday--no highway traffic. Fished Sunday, and there were a few boats on tha lake, and maybe 8 boat trailers in the launch lot. Monday, there were maybe 15 boats on the entire lake (that I could see). Today, I had the lake pretty much to myself; I was the only car in the launch lot. So, you might consider Almanor as an opportunity to avoid crowds on a busy weekend--It's worth the drive!

Didn't do any fishing this past weekend, but did go up 88 and then down 395 to the Bridgeport area. Not as many people fishing as I would have expected.

Me and my family went to lake of the springs/ lake mildred camping. It was really packed. Still had a lot of fun with family and friends. Caught these guys using power bait.

Thank you Saizo, I was especially excited about the larger fish which I assume was a holdover. Now I'm itching to go trout fishing again. As for shad, I remember the dates you gave me for the spot, so I am impatiently waiting. I have been fishing sunrise with little success. They are just coming up in small schools I think. I heard a rumor that folsom will release water after the boating event going on. Hopefully its more than a rumor.

Not much of a report but did sneak out of the house for a float in the yak on sunday. Fished Slap Creek Res. for a few hours and managed to land one small guy on a black-yellow panther martin. Brought all my stuff with me on Monday hoping to fit in a little after helping a buddy in Volcano but no such luck. The float was nice aside from the wind so no complaints.

My Eagle Lake opener report is on the trout board. Nice clean fish on the upper end but have a slightly muddy taste due to the wind and wave action up on the north end. Smoke em and they're fine. The south end was producing quick limits of recently planted fish with nice sizes. I can only verify one 4lb fish being caught on the south end. I heard lots of radio chater about larger fish but they were comming too often and were sizes we haven't seen in a few years. The largest planter was around 3lbs according to the guys I talked to from the Hatchery.

The fish should be settled back down and get into their normal routines in a couple of weeks. The fish in the North Bay are staging at Pelican but aren't quite ready to move into the deeper water yet. These fish will clean up quick and the mud flavor will be gone for the season. The fishing is fantastic. If the all the voodo lines up, the week of june 22nd should be the next hot bite.
