Headed to Frenchmans Sunday with two friends for a beautiful day on the water. We launched at the southern boat ramp at about 8:30. My buddy and owner of the boat is paralyzed, so we were pleasantly surprised to see they actually have a special elevated ramp for people in wheelchairs to get in and out of the boat at this facility. Hadn't seen that before. The Wiggin's Trading Post report I read before heading out said to use a nightcrawler behind flashers, but nightcrawlers were the one bait we didn't have. That being said, throughout the day I tried a bunch of different combos of flashers, dodgers, hoochies, spoons and grubs. Tried toplining and various depths on the downriggers for all of the above mentioned combos, with no luck. Fortunately we were also dragging a Hot Steel Rapala which was the first to get hit after about an hour. After the Hot Steel hooked up again, I put a Fire Tiger Rapala on the other toplining rod. Finished out the day with one on the Fire Tiger and another on the Hot Steel. Both were toplining & rigged without a dodger. We were using the gas motor with the trolling plate down so about 1.5-2.25mph. Fish were rising everywhere in the south end of the lake where we caught 3/4 and finally picked up the last one by Lunker Point. The fish were all about 15" and put up a fun fight on my ultralight. We were off the water by 3. It was a great day, but I expected a few more fish with all the surface activity.
