What a year! The Mike and Kristy show went fishing 58 days this year. Our fish total is 249. Down a bit from last years 306. Visited many lakes and spent time on Rich Crispi, Larry Aaker (https://www.facebook.com/larry.aaker) and Chris Menard's boat as well as our own. GVF gifted me lures that are a must have! Realized that you never really stop learning as a fisherman/woman. (skunk days will do that) And that there is almost no other place I would rather be than with loved ones on the water with a fishing pole or two or four or sometimes nine lol.
Now on to the report.
Up at 4:30 and out of the house by 6:30. After a couple of pit stops we arrived at 8:30 and the first thing we notice was of course the very low water. I have seen it really low before but this is by far the worst. The launch isn't even in sight. Don't even try if you are alone in a boat. Right now it takes two for sure. Unless you are that good at it.

Mighty cold start. Bundled up with hats and scarfs and gloves we set out our lines for some top-lining. Had grabs right away.

I pick up the first fish, 18" fatty on a brown 3" grub with a white power egg head and a sling blade. Released for good luck. (should have kept it).

We make our way back to the Jackson creek arm (you can't go very far in) and had a few more hits.

Trolled back to the dam area and Mike gets fish number two. Only 15" but angry as all heck! Caught on a Black Wooly bugger using an action disc. (Thanks goes to Chris for that). We then see that it has a blue tag! YAY!!!! We have never caught a tagged fish before so in the box it went. High fives! (Find out what we won near the end of this post).

By now it was around noon and it was getting hot! The layers of cloths were coming off quickly leaving us too warm in t-shirts. It had to be 75 degrees at least. I was sweating and even managed a sunburned face. This is winter right? Guess my friends back east would hate me for complaining so I will leave it at that.

We found that the fish were really schooling in the coves and we spent the rest of the day working them. So did the other boats. That's where I scoop up number three.
17" On a olive green Wooly Bugger again with the action disc. Kept.

Mike brings in number four on the brown grub again. 17" in the cove just to the right of the J Creek arm. Kept.

We had many teases on the white grubs too but they did not stick. Today was slow out there compared to how our friends did recently. Only talked to one other boat that had two more than we did. But We had a WONDERFUL day and caught fish so it's all good. I am a happy girl.

We called it a day at 3:30 . I dropped mike off at the marina docks to go pick up the truck and I waited my turn to take the boat to the launch. It's a TINY one way water road in and out.
One stop before we left. To turn in our tagged fish. We got two free days of camping! How cool is that? Never expires! So that will be awesome. Can't wait to go back. Next weekend we have to make a Reno trip to visit family but after that we will make the long haul back to Ammy as soon as possible.

Time to ring in the new year and start a new fishing log book titled 2014!
Take care, Be safe and Happy New Year my friends!
Mike and Kristy.

Great thread as always. Love to read them and see the pics. The fish are beautiful, and congrats on the tagged one. I want to try out the lake, but it seems like a launch with a 12' Aluminum by myself on that ramp would be next to impossible.

Happy New Year and can't wait the see the next M&K adventure haha. Cheers!

Great job! Looks like a puddle out there. Those camping days can come in handy the weekend of the Tourney. No need to be up at 0430 to get on the water, just check in friday night and have boat launched (if theres any water left), up at 0630 for a cup of coffee and ready to go.
