what is the best way to cook abalone????

With abalone I always say keep it as simple as possible. *I bread it with either flour or plain bread crumbs, and a small amount of salt and pepper. *Then quick fry it in peanut oil. *Never never never never never.............(you get the idea).................never over cook it!!

I'd leave it simple as well, however - growing up on the coast we ate a lot of the stuff.

My dad would spice it up a tad bit and just to break the menotiny.

Dads way:

beat an egg and throw it in a ziplock baggy. Crush one or two cloves of garlic into the bag with the egg and let it marinate while you prep your Abalone.

Once you've cleaned and cut your Abolone into "frying sized" portions, throw 4-6 peices into the bag and squish them around to cover. Pull these out and bread them up in some plain or italian style breadcrumbs (usually italian style wins out). Fry in butter till they're done.

Serve these with a wedge of lemon, a nice shrimp salad and some good crusty garlic bread.
