Took my 240 Weatherby Magnum out for a tune up, shot 5 strings, 4 @ 100 and 1 @ 300 yards.
Groups at 100 averaged .78" and my group at 300 was 1.2" which is u der .5 moa out of a sporter weight belted magnum shooting factory ammo, reloads are tighter [emoji7]

That is a nice rifle! And it looks like a nice scope as well! Am I reading it wrong though? You say .78 @100 and 1.2 @300 which both are very good but you say that's under .5 ?? Both were over .5 how can it average under .5? That is one long range deer/antelope/coyote killing machine! I am going to sight in my new Thompson Encore Pro Hunter in 25-06 with a leupold 6-18 x 40 scope this weekend I only hope to shoot 1 inch with it or close to it?

Where did you go for Range time?

I'm thinking I need to stretch some hog legs. and A Rem 7400.

1.2 inches at 300 yards is under .5 minutes of angle or moa.

A friends property, but I usually shoot at the Lincoln rifle range.

Oh ok I never carried moa out to 300....but your right .5 at 300 would be 1.5 and you were 1.2 kinda seems weird that you would shoot better at 300 than at 100? I have a Remington Sendero 700 that shoots really good.....I can shoot 10 times and all will be inside a 1 inch square....just one big hole. I have never bench shot it past 100 but I have shot coyotes at 250-300 with it.

This was my first group at 300, normally I shoot steel, coyotes, etc for confirmation. They just had a really neat set up that I uad to take advantage of

Yep and a great warranty! I almost bought a Vortex when I bought my 6-18. Only thing was I needed a 40 obj lens and 4-12 was the highest Vortex makes in a 40 OL. I did buy a great Vortex bino 10x42 Diamondback and I love it!

Went out to Sac Valley Shooting Center today to sight in my 25-06 Thompson Encore . It did not shoot the lights outs but at 100 yards it was less than 2 inches which is ok for me. I would like it to shoot better but its not a bolt gun and its a lot lighter than my bull barrel Remington.
