Drove past Shasta and the lake is very green-brown, ended up in Anderson to pick up some glass and the Sac River is just as brown. Looks like the whole water system is clouded up with mud from the last rain or the Mud Slide from Mt. Shasta Glacier has made it's way to the lake.

Maybe it just turned over. Cooler surface temps caused the oxygen rich surface water to sink. Some lakes do it slowly and others do it rapidly. Some lakes are violent and some are not. Sounds like Shasta went rapid and violent this year.

As soon as it clears up, you shouldn't need your down riggers to catch nice fish since they'll be feeding nearer to the surface.
