Saw this product online called jigskinz, it looked really cool so I gave it a shot. I tried it for the first time today and I was impressed. I carved a top water plug sealed and weighted it, but instead of painting it I used a jigskinz. Just dip it in boiling water and in a second u have this.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160306/d5f4ba596d0ad13c174467e34abfb071.jpgnow I'm going to epoxy clear coat it and it's on!

Those squid plastics look good for rockfish. So do the sardine, yours turned out sick

After dipping it in boiling water it seems pretty durable, but I'm going to epoxy clear coat it anyway. I don't think this product or any paint job has much of a lifespan against some lingcod teeth, it should hold up pretty well using it for top water stripes. I am also going to wrap some of my old kwik fish for the up coming salmon season.

Looks good! What online site did you purchase the skinz from?

Jigskinz.com I left an email. I had a question about the size I should get. They got back to me promptly. Good luck

I think that spray on Polyurethane may give it some descent protection. Just might need a lot of coats:smiley:

You are probably right. I was thinking that other than Lings other fish mouths can be raspy.

Seen this product too, looks great. And you are correct, there isn't a product out there that last forever or a few months at that. However, epoxy will buy it some time. I double coat my lures with Devcon 2ton epoxy and they get scrapped up by the hooks.

Just like the old adage, don't trust a mechanic with shinny tools, same goes for lures.

My bad if it's been mentioned already but that looks like a process called hydrodipping that they use for a lot to modify car parts pretty tough stuff against heat but not sure about sharp teeth so i agree with some sort of top coat over it but lure looks very cool!

I looked into buying a similar type of material to print my own designs on but all I found were Shrinky Dinks!

I don't want to pay $2 a lure just for the wrap, especially for smaller baits.

I saw a guy who prints his own on regular paper then cuts them into strips (crankbait is a difficult shape) and wraps the lure. After that some touch up and clear coat. They looked pretty damned good.

I may try the "print your own" on a popper. A popper would be an easy shape to wrap.
