Anyone calling / chasing turkeys? Work, gfs doctor appointment, lack of work /funds, missed opener, looking at later in season but may try some spots up here.

Been out four times on public land. Found toms and hens every time. They refuse to leave the hens, they are still in groups with other toms, personally I don't think breeding season is in full swing yet seen hens out all hours of the day.

One of the issues I have had is other hunters coming to my hen calls, it's really f*%(#%# annoying and ruins the hunt, Especially when you get there before the sun comes up and these dbags come in about 8am making noise walking right up on you because they hear your calls. Wish people would use some common sense.

Been trying before season to get onto a buddies property which is loaded with turkeys. He's ignored me. He's always commenting on how good my wild game looks prepared and how he wants to go out and hunt so he can do the same, but always flakes.

So yea it's been a frustrating week.

Took my boy out opening day. Heard one Tom. Public land is nearly non existent here in Lodi. I want to move back to Oregon 😢

I know how you feel Bigun, lots of people don't know how well turkeys can see and hear...public land can be tough, that sounds like a lot of my openers...seems mid season mid day after the hens go to nest toms start looking.

Tyson, I can't believe you moved from Oregon to cali, the only thing they don't have is pigs but the elk make up for that.

What idiots. Let the turkey come to you not the other way around. Sorry for the bad luck with the slob hunters.

Not by choice man. Wife took a job here. I still work 8 months a year in Oregon and maintain my residency. I wouldn't give up elk hunting for the world.

Tried it about 10 minutes ago. Waiting for my buddies to return now. I think the birds left too.
