View Full Version : Delta cats

I haven't went cat fishing in years, and can't give a good reason why. Do a lot of trout and stripers though.
We are going out for some cats. We will be launching out of wimpys and going in the day.
I just can't stay up late any more. Do you any suggestions on this area. Years ago I used a weigh at the bottom and hook up about a foot and clams for bait
could use some input
Thanks Don

Hey Don, I don't fish that area but look for outside river bends with deep holes. Drift your bait through the hole with enough weight so it bounces along the bottom from the head of the hole to the tail of it. Many places you can catch HUGE numbers of white cats with this method. Whites are plentiful and take alomost any bait, so take as many as you want and have a fish fry. Make sure and throw the channels back, though. Anything freckled or over 5 pounds is usually a channel, and their numbers are way down in the delta. Selective harvest is the way to go.
