Fished the River for trout today, and the Catfish King got a little lazy, and just did a little still fishing with a nightcrawler. *He covered it in anise scent, which has been the hot scent for our cats and carp lately. *He put it in the deepest hole around, then waited. *The first fish, which was at the time, a "mystery fish", (we didn't know what it was) bit, ran like a freight train and busted him off. *We didn't know what species it was, but, I figured it was a carp. *About 5 minutes later, the second hookup happened. *The fight was on! *Then the fight went on, and on, and on, and then on some more. *I left and went seaking other fish. *Finally, about half and hour later, the brute was laying beached in the shallows, completely exhausted. *We snapped some shots and released him. *We've been known to to turn carp into catfish bait, but this one earned his freedom.

Cool looking fish and great story. All the mirror carp seem to look a little different. I think it was cool you let that one go. 8-)

The carp thought so too! ;D We saw one that made the others look like dinks. It would swim up to the 10 pounders, and they looked like minnows. My estimate was 25 pounds [smiley=shocked.gif]

Thats a great looking fish, I bet it was fun fighting it. I think that was a big carp that got off. I hooked some big carp that I couldnt pull them out on a 10lb test, so it would be tuff pulling it out on a 6lb. Big carp fight craze and fun. I had carp spool off all my line of my reel and snap it. :D
