View Full Version : Folsom Monday 5/19

Fished Monday 5/19 with my brother. *I think we started about 3:30 or so. *We started getting bit right away. *Right off I had a big fish break my line cause I didn't get to my pole in time. * My brother holding the big cats (pictures don't do them justice and they dwarf the other fish) caught them on a slip bobber close to shore. *One on a crawler and the other two on minnows. *The other smaller ones were caught on liver. *Some of our fish came off the stringer I guess because of the weight of bigger ones on the line with them. *My perception of when cats will bite has changed. *I pretty much thought they bite right at sun down but these were caught through the afternoon and it was pretty much a full moon. *The last two pictures are previous catches of Fishin it Reel. *He only caught a couple this time.

I'm going to have to try Folsom again. Last time I was there the cops kicked us out because it wasn't light out yet.

Well we tried again on Thursday 5/22, thinking we'd have a repeat. *All the fish were gone. *Even the large school of carp left. *Between 5 of us only one small catfish caught. *It was windy through the night and most of day, temperature drop too. * Go figure. >:( *Probably have to wait till weather warms up. *If the water level gets up into the trees catfishing should pick-up as they hang in the flooded trees.

Looks like you had a great day! Thanks for the pics! :)

Just a reminder to anyone eating big cats out of Folsom; they are loaded with mercury. The bigger the cat, the more mercury contamination. It is best to keep the smaller ones and throw the big ones back; anything over 5 pounds ;)
