In the dead time between salmon and crab, we decided on a far fetched attempt of running out of Bodega to the deep water for a first ever try at albacore. The weather buoy at the shelf read 58.8 degrees and Fanny Shoals would be a solid plan B. Out of Bodega, slightly NW of Pt. Reyes in 4000 FOW we came across a large area teeming with birds, dolphins, whales, and sea lions. No hits trolling a modest spread through all the action. Headed over to Fanny Shoals and on a flat Sat afternoon had the place to ourselves. There were quite a few small rockfish and just as many hitch hiking attempts. Landed two nice vermilions, keeper ling, china cod, and an olive. On the way home we kept overheating, something blocked the intake and was freed after a complete shutdown... Here's a video of the trip!
