I was thinking of hitting P-Mid and so gave Paul a call to see if he was interested. Paul lives at Incline Village, a perfect place for me to beg my way in to a nice bed and launching point to get to the lake in the morning. But what Paul says is, "I'm going tomorrow with Jake (his son) and girlfriend, you want to go?". OK I'm on my way.

Usually we get to the lake prior to first legal cast an hour before sunrise but this time played it more casual and got to the lake around 8:30am. We would fish until last legal cast an hour after sunset. We arrived at the Okie Beach area and saw a guy landing a fish and thought, "Oh Yeah it is on!". Dumb... Within minutes Paul and I both had a fish follow our presentation to the shore which is a good sign. Well we didn't get anything there but saw a couple fish landed. Since Jake and Hana showed up we decided to try a different area which I have never fished before. We worked that same area until dark. It kept producing fish here and there for Paul and Jake but not crap for me.

Paul caught 7 fish up to about 5lbs. He definitely had the hot stick. Almost everything worked once but the spoon won out for most productive. He caught on spoons, jigs, tadpole fly, and maybe something else. Jake was doing the same with maybe four fish. He threw out a Rapala behind a weight and was slowly dragging it in and he gets hooked up. Big fish!! Took a bit to get in. Just wanted to thrash and roll and with the weight we thought it would likely spit the hook, but Jake did a good job and got the fish in. A personal best fish for him of 16 lbs 3 oz fish!! Congratulations to Jake!!

At this point I am still without even a bite! What the Hell? Finally my time came on a brown spoon. About 40 min before last cast in low light. I get about a 4 lbs fish.

Then two minutes before last legal cast I hook up with better fish. It was quite dark and in the hurry to get the pic and the fish released Paul cut off my fishy's head. LOL. At least you can see it is a good fish. Likely a solid 6+ lbs.

That would be the close of our day. Really a good day by any standard for all of us with me just squeaking in with two in the last minutes of the day.

Cheers,
