Hey all! The boy and I just got back from a 2.5 day trip to Camanche and had a blast trolling around with the fleet in the narrows! Got there on Weds afternoon and tried for about 45 min around the big hat area for nothing, by that time it was about 3:30 so I made a last ditch effort and ran all the way back to the bridge at the back of the river arm and started trolling toward the mouth. About 15 min in, first fish on, boated it and cleaned it, and then as i was cleaning up and packing in because we were losing light fast, the second rod went off, fish number 2 in the boat! That was enough for dinner, so we jammed back to the marina with just enough light left to back the trailer into the water, dark by the time we got to camp.

Day 2 went great for us, sounded like it was slow for others. Got on the water around 7:15, back to the narrows. Had the first fish on in about 45 min, released it to fight another day. Over the next 5 hours, we boated and boxed 4 more fish, all on grubs. Ran back to the launch around 1pm for a quick leg stretch and bathroom break for the kiddo and back out on the water for 1 more released fish.

Morning of day 3, Friday, was slow slow sloooooow. On the water again around 7:30, started the troll into the narrows, then the throttle on my kicker decided to slip and the breeze kicked up for just a second and turned one of my lines right into the kicker prop. Unfortunately the drag was set loose enough for the prop to just keep going, pulling line off the reel. Clearing lines, had a taker on the topline right as i started reeling, but by the time i could tell the boy that i was on, i was off again, gotta love an LDR. Had to turn into the first cove on the right going into the narrows and figure out that mess. Luckily it wrapped nicely at the base of the prop and wasnt enough to start hitting the seal. About 15 min and we were back on the water. Right as we made the turn out of that cove, got a strong bump bump bump on the topwater line but by the time i got to the back of the boat, nothing was there. Another 4 hours, 1 boated fish, 2 small missed bites, back to the marina we go.

All in all had an amazing trip with the boy, got a flat on the trailer on the way home in Rio Vista, but overall an amazing trip out! Sorry to anyone we may have zigged or zagged in front of, the boy is slowly learning the finer points of steering the boat at slow speeds.
