I will be heading up later in November to check out New Melones. We will be targeting trout while trolling. In the evenings I'd like to try for other fish species. How does one go about getting catfish around that time of year? Catfish in New Melones? Thanks.

Mackeral or anchovies will definately be worth trying.
Some of my best catfishing at New Melones has been October thru December. Near the old 49 bridge and near the Tuttletown boat ramp are two good areas from the bank, at night.
You might even catch a big trout on anchovies, I've seen it happen. ;D
A local who regularly catches cats 20+ pounds at Tuttletown doesn't start fishing for them until the end of October.
Sliding sinker with a two foot leader, throw it way out and put on the bell. The bite usually gets going after 11:00PM.

Last Friday I threw an olive Beadhead wollybugger (flyfishing) with some flash in the tail out at Tuttletown and picked up 2 cats.
A 5 lb and a 6 lb.... they wern't too far from the shore line.
Turned out be a very nice evening!!

Nice looking cats, and beautiful sunset/sunrise pic! Thanks for sharing.

It seems like Lake cats are nicer looking than what we catch in the delta....not all banged up.
