Went to Del Valle yesterday to do some catfishing, hit the west side near a patch of tules that I used to fish regularly and have done quite well at. The action was hot when we first arrived at about 4:00 pm but to my surprise it wasnt catfish but striped bass, I have known for some time that there were stripers there but always wondered how healthy the population was there, after last night I would have to say pretty decent we caught 4 of them to 15" and no cats :'( . Seems there must have been a little school that had run through, for the first 45 minutes or so the action was pretty hot and after that the bite almost completely died. There was a tree limb or some kind of structure out there, several times we would get hit and set the hook only to be snagged, seemed they were biting and heading to cover.

Thanks for the report!

Yep yep, there's usualy a few monsters pulled out of Del Valle every summer. Although this is the first I've heard of stripers being there. Guess I'll have to go check it out.

Well first you can not take stripped bass less than 18'

Second I was fishing Del Valle yesterday with a friend and we've got our limits. More than 30lb of catfish.

Used chicken liver.
