Have any of you guys tried the Penn Captiva? I'm looking for a good salmon reel that won't bust the bank at at 50 bucks with 11 ball bearings it doesn't sound like that bad of a deal. Any thoughts?

I have the Penn Captiva Liveliner CLL5000 that i use for striper fishing and it performes very well. It is an excelent reel and very inexpensive.

What exactly does the liveliner do for the reel? I read the discription and all it says is that it allows line to be taken out when the bail is closed. But can't you do that with any reel?

Acts almost the same as the clicker on your conventional or baitcasting reel.

would you say its worth the extra $$?

It is really good if you will be fishing larger live baits, plus it is a nice thing to have when your drag is too tight and the fish starts taking off you can hit the bait runner lever and let the fish run untill you adjust the drag. The bait runner also has a drag system. It was worth it for me.
