The city of Sacramento is considering charging a fee to launch our boats at Miller Park and Garcia Bend to help pay for expenes to maintain the ramps. The charges are $8.00 for day use and a yearly pass will be avaiable for $100.00. There will be a community meeting on the issue on November 28th 2005 at Kennedy High School multipurpose room at 6715 Gloria Drive at 6 PM. If you want to have an input show up at the meeting to speak your peace!

If they're going to charge $8, I hope they plan on cleaning the bathrooms up at Miller Park Launch!!! >:(

I would go for $4 if they cleaned the bathrooms and added some more lauching space in Garcia bend....And for god sakes fix the sand bar too!!!!

They may ask for a fee at Garcia, but I always heard that Miller Park was donated to the City with the stipulation that it would stay a free launch and Park. Just what I heard T.C.

would this be separate from a state park annual pass?

Yeah, the parks are City of Sacramento, not state like Folsom or Brannon. Discovery is county.

If they charge, they need to fix and maintain the ramps, restrooms, and provide decent security. Just my .02.

I'm glad they are charging fees...maybe it will filter out more un-needed/un-wanted people.

Update -- 12.8.05

The Sacramento Bee had an update in "The City" section of the paper today. The article is on the very first page. Only 11 people showed up to the meeting at Kennedy. I guess people either 1) didn't know about it, or 2) people didn't care and will accept the fees. Personally, I don't care and wouldn't mind paying the fees if the upkeep is maintained. Right now, it looks like the launching fee will be $8.00. Check out the article if you are interested.

Of the people I label "undesirable" about half of them have a lot less money than I do and half of them have a lot more. But their financial status or the fees they paid to get in doesn't seem to stop them from always ending up right next to me.
