throw something smelly in the coves and you will catch something. I caught my first catfish there off a piece of KFC chicken wing when i was real young. Put it on a big trouble hook and casted it out before i went to bed. An hour later and it was on!

Check this out:

Don't expect the fish to be "Clear Lake" class, but in my opinion anything 5 pounds or less is "eatin'" size. Keep the small ones (less than 5 pounds), eat the dinks, put the hogs back to live/spawn another day (5 pounds and over)!

Big cats = big fry = big young = big cats = release the big ones, eat the rest!"

Good luck to you!

I've caught numerous 5+ lb catfish while houseboating in Sept/Oct. Find a nice shallow, secluded cove ... not the deep canyon like coves. Cast out anything. I've caught them on crawlers, clams, stink bait, dead minnows, etc. Sundown to sunrise. My sister once caught an 8 pounder early morning with a live minnow under a bobber. good luck.
