that sucks I fish that lake alot. today I seen an RV in the kragen parking lot that blew up. it took out all the windows tires and even the muffler. the guy who owned it looked really confused. I wish I had my camera it was quite a sight.

Yikes.

One thing scarier than boats/water is boats/fire. I hope to see some more information as to how it was caused and how the guy got burned.

Last year I had an electrical fire in my Evinrude 175hp Oceanrunner. It took a whole Fire Extingisher and TWO 5 gallon buckets of water to put out. Now I have 2 Fire Extingishers on board.

they make fire exst. for electrical fires, maybe you should get both.

Buy a dry chemical fire extinguisher that has a minimum of a 2-A 10-BC rating. A=Wood, B=Flammable Liquids and C=Electrical. If you have the room in your boat go higher on the rating scale. Its marked on the extinguisher under the Underwriters Laboratory label.

For what it's worth...

Try to find an extinguisher with a metal head. They say that the plastic ones break and they become torpedos. With the vibration and the pounding a boat takes it might not take much.

A neighbor had a Coast Guard inspection and the inspector mentioned it.

im no expert, but if ur boat has a lot of electronics on it...keep one of both types, electric and standard model extinguishers
