View Full Version : Huge Lagoon Striper 2/21/09

I fished with the same stuff, a Daiwa DB minnow on a 8.5ft rod with a revo reel spooled up with 12lb line, I also used a 7ft spinning combo wit the same lure. I trolled on my boat from 1:30pm-5:30pm. At around 3:15 my Revo went off and it just started ripping line, it pulled the boat around for a while and I was thinking it might be a foul hooked bat ray because it was not shakeing its head and staying on the bottom. After 15 minutes I saw it, a huge striper, after a few more minutes it was in the net. I took it back to the dock and weighted it and took pics and let it go. It weighted 20lbs 5oz. I have a video of the release I might post sometime. After that I got back to fishing and had one missed hit but that was all.

The monster striper

A private lagoon in alameda

I know where it is but...... Its private. I don't think minnow and his neighbors would want a bunch of people flooding their back yard. Good times Minnow. I'm so damned jealous of you. But what can I say..... got some skills man. ;)

Nice report MinowMagnet .....hard work paid off and thanks for releasing your fish, your one of the few young fishermen that get it. [smiley=thumbsup.gif] [smiley=thumbup.gif]

Super catch! Way to go MinnowMagnet. * [smiley=bananasplits.gif]

I live in Alameda (Bayfarm) and drive by the lagoon all the time but never imagined there'd be stripers that big. You're blessed to be able to fish in your backyard like this.

Do you or anyone else know if fish this big have access into the lagoon from the Bay or is it a lagoon-locked fish that just grew big in there? My guess is the latter.

Impressive! You truly are one talented angler :)

VERY nice!! Did you catch them closer to the edges near the docks or further out? How deep is that lagoon anyways?

If that lagoon can be accessed via any public access area or by boat it is not pvt.

this lagoon can only be acessed by people who live there, there are other lagoons on the island that you can access, but not this one.
