Talked to the guy’s around 8pm last night no Sturgeons but they had some Stripers. ;)

I left them around 5 PM last night. The BBQ was just being fired up,the good times were flowing.KneeDeep is quite the character. He was giving Mongo hell all day.Something like set the hook like a man,not a sissy!
When I left there were only two small stripers caught. If you had put them nose to tail they would not have made a legal fish.
I think with the three remaining boats out there last night, there might have been a few hangovers this morning.
Hope they caught some fish.
I know at one time there were twenty lines out the back of all of the boats tied up.I think the distance form one outside boat to the other was only maybe fifty feet.

We had a blast and it was great meeting new friends and seeing some old ones too. Great food and company for sure, I think I should have went to sleep long before I did. ::) I missed my only bite today while I was talking to my wife on the phone, it seems like the fish know when your not paying attention. That's the second time this month I've had a take down while talking to my wife on the phone. The first time I caught the sturgeon after throwing the phone on the deck. No such luck this time. Hope someone caught a keeper, Rick, Mongo and myself moved back up river this morning and didn't catch anything the rest of the day. Thank's Rick and Mongo for putting up with me.

Sounds like a great time!

Like Kneedeep said the fishing was dismall, but hanging out with old and new friends was the best. Floatillas are just way to much fun. I did manage about an 18" squawfish, my first fish for 2008 was a dam squawfish. At least it was a fish. There was one undersize caught at 42" and it went to the best canidate, Jay and his wife Suzie drove clear from Montana. So at least he got to see what they look like.
We tried three different spots, tried ghost srimp, piles, roe, herring, squawfish, trout roe, and dines.
*The weather couldn't have been any better two days of no wind, flat water, and blue skies. For a feb. to kewl.
I,m still in the recovery mode, Tim had a 3 hr drive after he left hope he is is doing OK. Roger and Maggie should be fishing right now, so Good Luck Roger, Maggie I know you don't need luck you'll kill them.
Well I feel one more nap coming on before a full recovery. *

I made a bad call today and fished near sacto out of Garcia launch. :-/ Something is going on up stream because the river was extremely high and muddy and full of grass and sticks. We couldn't keep 11 ounces on the bottom for 15 minutes, the weeds would build up and you were flying a kite that fast. A guy I talked to said they were clearing the boats off the water near Miller park. We saw the police and rescue boat at Garcia Bend, but they never said anything to us. I wish I had heard what was going on to mess up the river like that, I would have returned to Rio Vista where the water was in great shape. Maggie burned a day off to fish in a flood. She was a good sport and didn't hold it against me. :-[
