Went out, just south of Knights Ferry, to hopefully catch the Sunset after the storm. But first caught some thunder clouds, looking east.

A small, partial rainbow hung around for 30 min too.

The moon stuck it head over the clouds.

Slim - I like 'em ALL!

That thunder cloud formation looks like a monster. My knowledge of thunder storms is vague. As I recall they build in altitude due to rising heat then collapse when the air and moisture cools ... and all heck breaks loose. I recall a fishing trip in Alpine County when we encountered a crazy wind lashing from the leading edge of a big thunder storm we felt, but couldn't see. Your shots seem to show that outward push at the base of that happening. I often look east from the foothills and see the tops of them, but have never had such a good view of the base as in your shot.

The intense rainbow is my pick as favorite of the bunch. I like the cloud formations and landscape below it as well.

GREAT post!
