Any one have any wild animal photos like the bear that was in the garbage on another post?

Here's a visitor that stayed a week under my Dad's deck.

Rob, welcome to the fish sniffer forums. I'm sure everyone here would love to see some real wild life pictures, and some of Australia's fish also, I know I do. Heck I'm used to hand feeding the Coyote's around here, but my sister is starting to get wise, her chickens are disappearing faster than I can explain. ;) If I had a dingo hanging around, I'd toss it a couple neighbor hood cats that's been crapping in my yard. ;D Just Kidding, maybe. :-X Come on Rob show us some real wilderness. 8-)

I love it Chris, Man what fun it would be to see what some of those critters could do. Talk about fetch, that first critter couldn't carry much, but I bet it would bring back some pretty cool stuff, and how would you reward it for a job well done? Scratch it or what? ;D

THANKS!
Getting a keeper always feels good as a great MANY of my exposed megapixels end up in the recycle bin. *Being able to share some of my good luck pics and having them enjoyed is a lot of why I appreciate the Sniffer forum. *It's good for a old guy to feel useful.

Here's a couple Annas hummingbirds I got yesterday after many many tries. *I've been able to count at least six birds at a time coming to the two feeders I have hanging from my deck cover. *They've gotten used to me standing close and frequently use my head as a pylon to race around as they chase each other.

I used the camera's built-in flash to light the birds after setting the shutter and lens opening to properly expose the background. *Flash brightness depends on distance so I did some trial & error tests on birds at the feeder to get it ballparked. *To focus I'd step a foot back then aim and lock-in on the nearby feeder then step forward and point the lens where I'd anticipate a bird. *Was hoping to capture two in battle frenzy over feeding rights but luck wasn't with me on that. *DANG! ... they move FAST! *When one would come into the focus zone I'd finish the shutter press and then go through the process again.

http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/1633/annasmale623500w.jpg

I again went through pics on ImageShack looking for the turtle. *When found it turned out to be sized for a photography forum I also post in. *I then edited two other I hadn't worked on before and they are at the end of this un-organized collection which I think I'll break into three sets.
Enjoy!

Mickey is right Mark, I'd buy a couple from this post alone, I'd frame em and hang em in my fishing room. I love the picture with the rainbow and ducks and the lake in the back ground. It looks like the rainbow ends right at green star point cove. ;) Also the picture with all the trout at the surface, especially if one of my hand made spinners were to some how appear right on the surface in the middle of that picture. ;D 8x10 or 10x12 would be very cool.

Mickey - If I was any good at persuasion (sales) I'd probably have a lot more female nudes in my picture collection. *Nah, I'm much better at shooting than selling ... although I did try as a sole proprietor photographer for 3 1/2 years before I got the government job. *Was FUN, but wasn't making me much money.

CC - Thank you, and yeah, I too think a outdoor photo board would be a welcome addition to the forum. *Too bad the idea got shot down in the "Talk To The Sniffer" thread that was going a years or so ago. *I think it would be popular and a possible resource of the Sniffer editor who's always looking for pictures to publish.

Lumpy - I don't know about hunting season or regulations, but I do know there are turkey's galore in the Amador Pardee area. *Been hearing them gobbling everyday recently. *Think this must be the time of year for "love."

Kneedeep - I've got a piles of prints no one ever gets to see. *That's discouraged me from making more. *But ... for YOU I might be persuaded with some new Canon inkjet cartridges. *Tho you'll wanna ask the cost of 'em before you commit.

Oh, and the fish photo is a feeding frenzy at the hatchery ... unless your lure looks a lot like trout pellets there may be some lawful consideration regarding false advertising if used commercially. *Roger we're probably too low on the totem pole to get away with being crooks! ;)

Bluefisher18 - Thanks. *I get inspiration and learn a lot from the forums on the DPreview website. *The folks in the Panasonic forum (my camera brand) are especially friendly and helpful. *For photo editing the Retouching forum also found there is well worth checking out. *

Nothing beats getting outdoors and shooting ... then of course posting a few for us to see!

Taken in my driveway..This little fawn was very lucky. I watched the doe give birth too two fawns under my deck last year. I watched a bear get one of them a couple weeks later. Both fawns hunkered up every night under a tree 40 ft from my house. I heard a scream like I have never heard before about 10pm. I Ran outside to check it out and saw a bear thrashing one of the fawns. When I yelled, it looked at me a ran off with the fawn in hand. Within 2 minutes of the scream there were at least 5 bucks and about 10 does in the same spot the fawn was taken (20 ft from my driveway).I rarely saw a buck near the house but when that happened they came running from all directions. Nature at it's best. This was the lucky one...

I knew I had this pic somewhere..this is just after they were born..

Foresthill Fly Guy - Thanks for the compliment. Every time my head gets fluffed from feedback I look at or think about the stuff that comes from this guy's camera and quickly plop back to earth humbled. But with a smile cause I never get tired of looking at it.

Your story about the bear taking the fawn is very interesting. *I can't imagine what the scene would be like if the bear stuck around and assembled herd put up a fight. *Probably make for some unique film or tape footage. *About the scream. *I've wondered if one I heard in the dead of night came from a deer. *This was on the Mt. Aukum ranch I worked as caretaker. *Blood curdling and banshee like would be the only words I can think of to describe it, and it wasn't just one. *It went on and off over about a eight to ten minute period. *For a time I wondered if it was human and the sounds of a murder. *Very chilling! *I get the willies recalling it. *This area (as you saw in some of my shots) would be like a deer smorgasbord for a mountain lion, but I never saw one. *2200' is probably too low for bears. *I did see and frequently heard coyotes. *And, I saw a couple bobcats, or maybe one twice. *I would think if it was a lion it wouldn't have gone on so long. *I imagine a chomp on the neck would end things quickly. *Well, interesting, thanks for telling it and for posting your set of pics. *My pick of favorites would be Big Mama Bear #!, lion #2, and the dizzy jay #3

Thanks Yak. That scream from the fawn only lasted a few seconds. I never new deer could scream until then and "Blood curdling and banshee like" is a great description of what I heard. Thanks for the link..amazing photo's.

Got this one a couple days ago from my deck here at Lake Amador. *I'm 90% sure it's a Western Tanager. *Came and went so quickly I'd never have gotten a shot if I didn't already have the camera in hand. *Made my day as it's rare to be treated to such a colorful bird.
http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/6659/oriomaybev1167.jpg

I guess this is a couple families of Canada geese combined. *The bird book says they lay 4 to 8 eggs. *Wish I could get closer!

Only count 9 in this shot while previous photos had 10. That's a clan of turkey vultures in the foreround.

let me make it 100% for you yakmotor. western tanager. they come in here every spring for a short time before going back up the hill.. i am not sure why they come down to our elevation for a short time in spring....i have not seen them nest here in over 10 years, and man they can make a racket.....but they are beautiful.

Thanks Dave for the confirmation on the ID. *I didn't get a side view so only went by the head color.

In sorting my goose photos I came across a few I hadn't done anything with shot at my old location. *The geese around there had small farm ponds for water but ranged far from them often grazing beside cattle, deer, and horses. *And, occasionally, they took to the trees!
