View Full Version : FLASH slide show test

This is to test slide show created for Flash play

For this test I located twenty previously posted pics all the same dimensions 475x356 then used default settings of 4 seconds per pic with 1 second fade in a trial version of "FlashSlider v4.2 to creat the .SWF file. *File size came ouot to approx 1.2meg which I then uploaded to ImageShack (which allows up to 1.5Meg per file FREE hosting)

475 pixel width is about the max size the forum can display. *The size of what's playing in the post preview is about 320x240 and I don't know why it's not the size of my original pics.

Let's see what size is shown in the post ... Yup it stayed "shrunk" *Wonder why. *I;'m going to try it on another forum to see what happens.

NOW WE"RE COOKIN' *It took inserting the width required.

Since the files size of the SWF is MUCH larger that typical posted pics I'd like to get feedback on how long it takes before playback starts or if you cannot see it.

OH to see it you must have a Flash Player plug-in installed on your computer. *I read that about 95% of net users already have it installed.

This one uses 7 800x600 photos. *SWF file size is 633k.
Here's links that ought to play them full size ... or in a re-sizable window. *They look best adjusted to their original size.

Might be an ImageShack problem as it's been acting strange the past few days. *Been getting frequent "Can't connect to server" messages. *Another problem with ImageShack has been I've not been able to delete some of these recent test images. *It gets a little confusing as to what I've got up for hosting as SWF uploads do not have a thumbnails to help identify them. *

That is great! Now I have something to work on for one of my upcoming reports. 8-)

Thanks for the compliments and feedback!

I wonder if the moderator or Sniffer site folks can tell me why the Flash window is being shrunk and if it can be made to pla in other sizes? I learned that ImageShack does not change the uploaded files.

Unfortunately the other forum I'm testing these in is not setup to accommodate SWF display. When I post like I do for still photos it just highlights it as a link.

I'll continue to work with the FlashSlider software to try other features like overlaying titles on the pics and having background music for the show.

YABB software won't change an image size without an add on that is not used on this site. It must be ImageShack that is presenting your show in a 320 window.

You can contact them through the Customer Service link at the bottom of their web page or http://reg.imageshack.us/content.php?page=email&q=customer.

This "Before/After" illustrates photo editing enhancement. After studying help screens for IncrediShow I've updated this example. *It's original size is still 800x409 pixels with the SWF file now at 421k. * The wide screen shape has blank areas above and below because the forum software is locked to the common rectangular 4:3 ratio.

I corrected the problem of my first example which flickered as the loop jumped back to the first frame to replay. *This slide show has four frames. *Two have the text overlay and two don't. *The play - pause buttons are my latest lesson, and I've just scratched the surface of creative possibilities using this software. *Embedded video frames and a sound track have potential of making this form of image posting quite spectacular. *
I need to learn what price will be paid in increased file size for all the fancy stuff. *ImageShack limits free hosting to 1.5megs. *With subscription up to 3meg. *I'm not sure how larger Flash slide shows will be handled by folks still with dial-up. *As my test posts increase in size I hope to get feedback from you viewers.

Here's a test of a four shot panorama programmed to play in a forum sized window. *It's not perfect as the pan starts immediately and at first moves too fast then near the end too slow. *I put the buttons in so it could be stopped for detail study. *After using the trial version I purchased IncrediShow v1.0 with which this was done with.

I played with posting the sound slide show in this forum for some testing. Once I got it working I put it in a separate thread on the Trout Board, but the moderator moved it to the November Amador thread ... it's near the end.

Thanks Rusty! Hope is easy to come by these days ... FAITH (along with lake water) is what's in real short supply.
