I've caught a few in my time. All were about 2' shakers. They have a more pointed snout and sharper scutes. Haven't caught a legal one as of yet.

I have never caught one but my brother has, says the meat is nowhere as good as the white. Says if he caught another one it would be let go of for sure. JIM D.

Ive caught a few of them but always let them go as they are not good eating. Seen what looked like a 7 footer come clean out of the water yesterday in Monty

I implant acoustic tranmitters in green sturgeons in the Sacramento River North of Chico. During the summers and early fall we catch quite a few(30 or so)fishing. So far this year weve caught about a dozen and they ranged from 66 to 88 inches. Ive commercial fished in the bay for Whites and we never got a green, but I have friends who capture them with gill nets for research in San Pablo Bay mostly. They hit way softer than the whites for some reason, but I dont know why. I also heard there no good to eat, but I would'nt kill a fish older than me anyway.

Just this last season between my buddy and I we caught at least 4. Nothing over 3ft, they were all smaller.

Yeah usually they stay small and under 3ft.
